Lyceum Youth Orchestra’s Terms and Conditions

(Parent Handbook)

Communication - There are multiple ways to communicate with the staff/volunteers of Lyceum Youth Orchestras.  For families who opt-in, we will text out reminders.  For all members, we will send emails.  The primary contact is our program administrator, lyceum@ahsmail.com

Harmony Profiles - Please update your Harmony profile including student photos. You were emailed credentials from admin@lovemusicmore.com or Lyceum@AHSmail.com. Your login is typically FirstLast “JohnDoe” and the unique password included in the email. If you can’t login, use the “Forgot password” option, or contact our program administrator at Lyceum@AHSmail.com

Harmony Calendar - Import the Lyceum “Event Calendar” to your phone and family calendar. The instructions are provided in Harmony for integration into Apple, Google, and Outlook formats.

Concert Tickets - Tickets for Philharmonic concerts will be available soon for all our ticketed events. Parents receive one comp ticket for each participant to all events hosted by Lyceum. In the “promo code” section enter the student's first initial and last name (e.g. John Doe = “Jdoe”) to redeem your individual code.

Concerts for all other ensembles are FREE to the public and we encourage you to invite friends, family and neighbors.  All concert details are available by clicking on the event on the Harmony Calendar.  This includes times, addresses, etc.

Attendance in Harmony - When you arrive next week, have the QR code on your folder scanned by our Personnel Managers or use the app to scan yourself in using a QR code that will be posted on the door. If you know in advance of an absence, please communicate that conflict by changing your availability in Harmony on either the website or the app.

Volunteer - sign up for your one volunteer duty per participant via the Student Resources page

Concert Attire - This varies based on the ensemble.  Please refer to the website for more information.

Donate - Support YOUR orchestra! Refer friends/family, stream the music, watch the videos, follow the social media, purchase concert tickets and encourage others to do likewise. Bringing in your friends and neighbors is one of the best ways to support the fun-level and longevity of the Lyceum family!

Handbook Highlights - Please see the full Parent Handbook. Here are some points of emphasis.

  •  Attendance. Students are expected to attend all rehearsals, sectionals, and performances listed on the orchestra calendar. Please understand that it is not the reason for the absence that creates a problem for the orchestra, but the absence itself. To be eligible to perform in the concert, students must complete a Rehearsal Recovery Form for each rehearsal missed. Arriving late or leaving rehearsal early counts as 1/2 of an absence. Please disclose pre-existing commitments or intentions to try out for potentially conflicting activities. Communicate non-emergency absences via Harmony by adjusting your availability.
  • Concert Attendance: We strongly encourage students to support their school music programs and understand absence due to unexpected illness, quarantine, or other health concerns. Students who are unable to attend concerts due to illness or academic commitments including school, choir, band, or orchestra conflicts are excused without consequence. Students who miss a concert for personal reasons such as a date dance, family vacation, or church activity are not eligible to automatically return to their ensemble the following season. Students who play a unique part who choose to miss concerts for personal reasons are responsible to provide a suitable substitute at their own expense.
  • Annual Commitment. Students enrolled in any of the ensembles are committed to play in and pay for the ensemble for the entire season or from the month of enrollment through to the end of the season.  Tuition can be paid annually, or in 4 installments (1st installment due at registration.  Installment 2,3, & 4 will be automatically withdrawn on the 5th of Sept, Oct, & Nov respectively.
  • Rehearsal Dress. Dress modestly at all times. Avoid being sloppy or inappropriately casual in dress, grooming, and manners. (see handbook for more details)
  • Late Arrivals. All students who arrive after the start time of their ensemble are required to unpack and tune their instrument in the hallway. Phones in Rehearsal: Cell phones are not allowed during rehearsal. They are allowed during breaks, before, or after rehearsal. Students found checking their cell phone during rehearsal will be immediately excused from rehearsal and not permitted to rejoin the ensemble until their parents have been contacted.
  • Setup / Takedown: Please leave instrument cases and bags in the hallway. Arrive 15 minutes early and please do not leave until your stand and chair are put away.
